Chris Basil
Head Coach, Tallahatchie Rascals

 Coach Chris Basil is a 1985 graduate of New Albany High School.  After graduation, he attended Itawamba CC where he played baseball under the leadership of Coach Roy Cresap.  Coach Basil received the ICC Leadership Award, was selected All-State, and played in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star Game.  After completing two years at ICC, Coach Basil transferred to the University of Mississippi, where he played baseball for two seasons under Coach Jake Gibbs.  In 1990, Coach Basil graduated from Ole Miss with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and P. E.

Coach Basil has served East Union High School as a teacher and coach for the past seventeen years.  He also serves as East Union's Athletic Director and is a Board Member for the NEMCABB.  Under his leadership, the East Union Urchins have won over 375 games with 9 Division Championships, 3 North State Championships, and 3 State Runners-Up.  He has received numerous Coach of the Year honors including 4 times NEMCABB Coach of the Year and 2 times Daily Journal Coach of the Year.  He has been selected to coach the NEMCABB All-Star Game twice, and last year Coach Basil was chosen to coach the Crossroad Diamond Club Mississippi All-Star Game.  Chris Basil resides in the Blue Springs community, where he lives with Betsy, his wife of 13 years, and their 3 children, Callaghan Brooke (11), Jace (6), and Ben (3). 
 


Andy Dillard
Assistant Coach, Tallahatchie Rascals

Andy Dillard, a native of Saltillo, is set to assist the Tallahatchie Rascals in the 2010 BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League.  Dillard, who coached last in the Mississippi Select High School Fall League, is a former independent league third baseman who won NCAA Division II All-American honors in 2002 for Coach Mike Kinnison's Delta State Statesmen. Dillard prepped at Saltillo High School and continued his baseball career at Itawamba Community College before joining the Statesmen. 

Dillard played for the independent league Nashua Pride in 2006 and 2007.  With the Pride in 2006, he hit .283/.375/.398 in 78 games.  Andy is the brother of major leaguer Milwaukee Brewer Tim Dillard and former independent leaguer Jeff Dillard

Also of note:  Andy's father, Steve Dillard, was an 8-year major-leaguer himself with the Tigers, Cubs and White Sox.
