Host Families Needed for 2012 CSBL

The BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League is excited to announce that they will be seeking Host Families for the upcoming 2012 season. Only in their fourth year of operation, the CSBL has garnered interest from across the country and would like to offer between 18 – 20 spots for various college players to be housed for the summer so that they can showcase their talents in this 6 team collegiate wood-bat league.

The league already features some of the top college players from across the region, who must be freshmen, sophomores, or juniors playing on their respective college or university’s baseball team. With the addition of the Host Family program, the league will be adding a crucial element in attracting talented players from across the country so that the league can continue to provide their fans with exciting, high-level competitive games.

The BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League operates in June and July at the BNA Bank Park in New Albany and features players from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Memphis, Arkansas State, Tennessee Tech, Delta State, Blue Mountain College (just to name a few) and area junior colleges. 2011 All-CSBL Team Named

Once again, we want to say "Thank You" to EVERYONE who helped make the 2011 BNA Bank Cotton States season so successful!! But perhaps most of all, we will take this last moment to celebrate some of the excellence we enjoyed watching on the field by naming the 2011 All-CSBL Team. Congratulations to ALL of the athletes who competed this summer - we wish you well next spring and can't wait to get the chance to see you play again.

Dealers Win Regular Season - LCS This Weekend

The North Delta Dealers wrapped up the regular season championship with their 2-1 victory over the Rascals on Saturday and the rest of the seeds were determined later last weekend. The League Championship Series (LCS) is this weekend, the 23rd and 24th, with games starting at 1:00 on Saturday.

The LCS Championship Game will be at 4:00 Sunday and will be the Van Atkins Game of the Week on Sunny 93.3!! Be sure and join us for all of the exciting action!!!!!

Dealers - Rascals Saturday at 11:00

If you had to pick only one Cotton States game to attend, you might consider joining us Saturday at 11:00 a.m. as the league leading teams, the Tallahatchie Rascals and the North Delta Dealers, square off in a make up game. The Rascals come into Thursday night's game with a 9-4-1 record and the Dealers will be 11-2-2 when they play on Saturday for what might be the regular season championship and the #1 seed in the League Championship Series (LCS) which starts next weekend.

Don't forget that one $5 ticket gets you in and out of the park all day long for this game AND the regularly scheduled triple-headers and kids 9 and under are free!!!

We hope that all of you are enjoying the break and have had the opportunity to spend time with your friends and families as we celebrate the 4th of July holiday!! It has been a fantastic season thus far and we thank all of you for your contributions.

We still have not rescheduled the rain out from last week but should be posting that information soon. We would also like to note that kids 9 and under are allowed to attend all Cotton States events FREE. Hope to see you again Thursday as we resume our season with the Thunder taking on the league leading Dealers.

Another Tuesday - Another Rain-Out

We have been rained out again this evening, June 28th. Please watch the schedule for a modification so that we can make this game up. We will announce it here with a news article when we make it.

Tuesday Night's Game is Cancelled

Due to inclement weather in the area and radar reports that indicate that we may have it with us well into the evening, tonight's game is cancelled. Saturday's schedule has been re-written to make this game up, so please check the website to see how your game has been affected. All five teams' schedules have been altered.

T-Shirt Orders Being Taken This Weekend

Orders for our "Real Men Play with Wood" t-shirt designed specifically for the league are being taken this weekend in the pressbox. $18 for moisture wick material and $16 for cotton (please add an extra dollar for each X above XL). You can sign up at the field or e-mail us your order. Be sure and include name, size, color, and type of material.

We hope to have them ordered early next week - delivery should take about two weeks. Don't miss out - this will be your only opportunity this season!!

News and Notes from the 2011 Season

We have had a great start to the 2011 season - thank you to everyone for your hard work, patience, and enthusiasm. Don't forget to search for our Facebook page at "BNA Bank Cotton States Baseball League" to see pictures from the early season games.

Also, if you can't make it to the field on Sunday afternoons, be sure and tune in to the Van Atkins Jewelers Game of the Week at 4:00 p.m. on Sunny 93.3 or listen through the internet at www.sunny933fm.com. Our two Diamond Players of the game were Jeremy Carlisle of the Dealers and Denzel Goolsby of the Tribe - congratulations to them!! We will have a slight schedule modification so that everyone gets an opportunity to participate in that particular game but we will be sure and announce it in plenty of time for you to adjust.

Vickerson Becomes 2nd CSBL Player Drafted

Nick Vickerson became the 2nd BNA Bank Cotton States player to be selected in the Major League Baseball draft when he was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 20th round Tuesday.

Nick played in our 2009 season and went on to enjoy great success as a member of Coach John Cohen's MSU Bulldogs. We wish Nick well in all of his future endeavors!!
